What we do not do

Every supplier says what they are good at. Saying what you cannot do is cheaper for both of us, so here it is. If your requirement is on this list, we will tell you in the first reply and, where we can, point you at someone who can.

Fabrics we do not make

Not made here

Knitted fabrics

We do not knit. Single jersey, rib, interlock, French terry, fleece and piqué are outside our mill. We will say so immediately rather than broker it and add a layer you did not ask for.

Not made here

Denim

No rope or slasher dyeing, no indigo range. Denim is a separate competence and we do not pretend to it.

Not made here

Coated membranes and laminated softshell

We finish and apply DWR / PU coatings, but multi-layer membrane lamination beyond our current bonding line is referred out.

Not made here

Technical textiles outside apparel

Automotive, medical, geotextile and industrial specifications are not our field.

02  /  Order types

Orders we decline

These are not preferences. Taking them produces a bad outcome for you and for us.

Declined as standardWith the reason
RequirementWhy we declineWho is a better fit
Below 1,000 m per colour, ex-stockOur dyeing plan is built on lot sizes. Below that, unit cost rises steeply and we cannot hold the shade.A fabric trading house holding spot stock
Single-piece or single-garment samplingSetup dominates the cost. We would be quoting you a number that has nothing to do with production.A local jobber or a sample room
Rush below 15 days without a confirmed programmeWe will rush a confirmed programme. We will not promise a date that depends on a slot we have not booked.A mill with spare capacity in that week
Unpaid development with no volume indicationDevelopment consumes lab and machine time. We fund it against a realistic programme, not on hope.A development house paid by the hour
03  /  Honest limits

Where we are not the strongest

Price on commodity poplin

On high-volume commodity counts we are competitive but not the cheapest. Mills running the same article at ten times our volume will beat us on price. We hold our own on consistency and on the mid-volume programmes they do not want.

Ex-stock availability

We are a make-to-order mill. If you need fabric tomorrow, we are the wrong call.

Very large single orders

Programmes beyond [—] metres per shipment are better split across mills, including ours. We will tell you when an order is bigger than we should carry alone.

Certifications we do not hold

We do not claim a certificate we cannot show. Current list, numbers and validity are on the compliance page — anything not on it, we do not have.

Design and trend direction

We develop to your specification. We are not a trend forecasting house, and we will not send you a moodboard in place of a lab dip.

Destination-side formalities

Customs clearance, duty and inland delivery at your end are yours. We will supply every document needed, but we do not quote a delivered price we cannot control.

04  /  When things go wrong

Logged failures

We keep a record of what has gone wrong and what changed afterwards. Two entries are published below as a sample; the rest are available on request.

[Case 2 — to be written by the mill][—][—]
Publish this, do not skip it. Two real failures with a root cause and a fix are worth more to a professional buyer than any certificate. Buyers know that a supplier with no failures is a supplier with no memory. Write two in your own words and send them to us.
